accompanying publications are intended to appeal to a wide
general audience, and have been designed with an international
distribution in mind. The programs are also suitable for use
in schools, and a special education pack is available.

future is dependent on a healthy environment: filmed in the
drylands of Senegal, the Mexican rain forest and the fisheries
of the North Sea.
The Sinking Ark
A natural history film that vividly portrays the importance
to mankind of a genetically diverse natural resource base:
filmed in Madagascar, Peru, Brazil, Kenya, Southeast Asia
and the Galapagos Islands.
The Fate of the Forests
The story of how shortsighted development is rapidly destroying
the world's forests: filmed in the acid rain damaged forest
of Europe and the rainforests of Panama.
Eight Half-Hour Case Studies
Eight stories about individuals who have come to realize
that there is indeed Only One Earth: subjects include a Buddhist
Monk in deforested Sri Lanka, a Rendille nomad in the deserts
of Kenya, a tuna fisherman in the South Pacific, and a Californian
housewife in polluted Silicon Valley; other films cover stories
in China, Zimbabwe, Britain and Peru.

The television series is accompanied by a full color BBC/Earthscan
book, and a 40-page color magazine published by North-South
Productions. There is also a World Wildlife Fund education
